Croydon GP VTS visited Riddlesdown High School in the school’s UCAS week Wednesday 12/7/17 and worked with students from Year 9 to 13. Topics covered Mental Health, Cyber Bullying, Relationships, Gender and Sexual Orientation, Contraception, Substance Abuse and Becoming a Doctor.

Cumberland Lodge

This years Cumberland Lodge Residential will be on October 4th – 5th. All ST3s will be coming plus St 1 and 2s in General practice or Innovative posts. In addition all ST1 and 2s are welcome.

Description of the practice: The practice within Thornton Heath in the borough of Croydon. North Croydon Medical Centre has been a doctor’s surgery since 1901. We are working in a purpose built surgery where we strive to provide a very high standard of medical care. We endeavour to provide a good, family based service. The list size has recently gone up to 5200.

 

Clinical Responsibilities:

Ø  In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her available to undertake a variety of duties including face to face consultations, telephone consultations and queries, triage calls, triage visits, checking and signing of repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Ø  Respond to medical problems presented by temporary residents as required.

Ø  Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organization.

Ø  Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

Ø  Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

Ø  In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.

Ø  To assist in the establishment of appropriate systems to manage common chronic medical conditions.

Ø  Completion of clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties needed for the delivery of the service.

Ø  Providing counselling and health education.

Ø  Refer patients for further opinions and interventions according to practice protocols.

Ø  Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

Ø  Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions wherever possible).

Ø  Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate.

Ø  Participate in training plans of medical students as required.
